In Iraq, due to a lack of water, the Mesopotamian marshes are dying. Faced with this impending disaster, one man is fighting to preserve an ecosystem that was once one of the richest in the world and the indigenous population that depends on it.
His name is Jassim Al Asadi. Last year, he was kidnapped, held captive, and tortured for several days. In this country, threats against environmental activists are commonplace. But while most have fled abroad, Jassim has decided to continue his fight, whatever the cost. With him, a generation of young activists is awakening and refusing to accept fate. Together, in the face of economic and geopolitical challenges, they are fighting to preserve their heritage and their ideals. They are building hope for a different Iraq.
